Exfoliants: Generally exfoliants contain 1 or more of Vitamin A derivative or Alpha Hydroxy Acid (aka AHA- glycolic acid, lactic acid etc.). Exfoliants help to speed up cell turnover that helps to unclog pores that can lead to acne. As skin ages, the skin begins to function more slowly and cells begin to build up, making the skin appear "sluggish" or dull. At this point, the skin needs a little "push" to remain healthy and vibrant. Exfoliants address this problem by sloughing skin cells. They may be used 1-7 times weekly, and as often as twice a day, depending on your skin type. Consult your esthetician for advise as over use may cause irritation and sensitivity. AHA'S can compliment very well with Vitamin A products and can give a more maximumn result when used together on tougher problematic (acne, white heads, clogged pores etc) skins.
Blemish Fighters: Use to reduce imperfections such as blemishes and bumps. May be used as a mask or over night. Benzoyl Peroxide will bleach any fabrics. Always avoid the eye area, nose creases, around the mouth and neck.
Why Use Vitamin A? Nothing replaces the activity that a vitamin A derivative has in the fight against comedonal (aka blackhead) forms of acne and aging skin. Starting from acne that needs unpluging of the sebum to cell renewal for a healthy youthful skin. Vitamin A SPEEDS EXFOLIATION and prevents new blackheads and whiteheads from forming. It is important part of everyday skin care. Some people may get some acne flare up after initially starting these products. That is because the acne that is already microscopically forming beneath the skin is brought to the surface as it exfoliates. This is temporary and should last only a few weeks. In general, acne will take between 6-8 to show significant improvement from therapy. And as for aging, skin gets lazy and needs help with cell turnover . Vitamin A brings the skin into healthy shape and helps better penetration of other products that could also diminish the signs of aging.
